Elk Motor is also planning a major expansion move later this year, says Demircioglu: “Elk Motor’s current factory is located in Cerkezkoy, Tekirday with a capacity of 1m motor pieces per annum, actively manufacturing 300,000 AC motors in a 40,000 sq m closed factory area. This factory is going to be moved to our new plant in summer 2018, again located in Cerkezkoy, but a modern and integrated one with bigger production capacity.”

There’s plenty of stickers to go around, with two very large sticker sheets. While most of them make sense even if I do prefer printing, some seem unnecessary. In fact, one of the roof stickers is pure white, placed on a white piece. Its only function seems to be to hide a bit of texture on the panel and to make it match the other three roof panels. The instruction manual dives straight into the build with no special features, though there is a spread at the end of the booklet matching the Technic model against the real car (it’s a much closer match than the perspective on the curved page makes it appear).

The new CTL 272-18 luffing jib tower crane can be equipped with several advanced options to give more flexibility to the owner for crane configuration. Competing Favelle Favco and Cornell diesel hydraulic luffers in this class meant only one or two fall operation would be accepted by high rise steel workers. Three fall operation was abandoned, partly due to a high risk of the hoist ropes twisting when operating at heights above 100 m. To help maximise rope life the design uses as few sheaves as possible between the hoisting winch and the jib tip section.

According to Kito, SCS decided to install the crane and hoist in response to an increasing workload which had to be completed in a shorter time frame. It says since the introduction of its equipment, the production process is much smoother.  

If the gearmotor is mounted inside an enclosure near combustion engines or other systems that generate heat or are exposed to direct sunlight, it will require internal motor components that have higher temperature ratings. High ambient temperatures can also negatively impact motor torque and direct sunlight will degrade sealing components.
