Caterpillar, Al-Bahar and Noble Corp introduce new engine overhauling solution | Saj30 For Construction Lifter

Mercedes is banking on return business from loyalists, but whether the adventure crowd will follow on their heels and cough up six figures remains to be seen.

Thanks to a fiery new nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that defaults to sending 60 percent of the engine’s power to the rear axle (the old G63 sported a seven-speed gearbox and sent 50 percent of the engine’s power to each axle), the 2019 G63 manages to accelerate with the tenacity of a classic American muscle car.

Why so many changes compared to the Euro-spec Ranger? "In the rest of the world, the Ranger oftentimes serves as the work truck," Erickson told me. "In the United States, it’s the F-series that’s the workhorse." Ford added refinement, Erickson said, to meet the demands of a "heavy personal-use vehicle for the adventure-ready customer."

As one might expect for a country with Germany’s reputation for industrial strength, the industry members I spoke to concurred on the current solidity of the domestic market. The consensus was that whilst the market may not be growing dramatically, there is steady growth from a very good initial position. And, due to the respected quality of German equipment, companies can rely on the export markets to bolster sales.

Another UK company, Sheffield-based engineering firm SCX – which specialises in lifting solutions and moving structures – worked with Westinghouse Platform Screen Doors (WPSD), a division of Knorr-Bremse UK Rail, in optimising the installation of their platform screen system on the Crossrail project in London. Crossrail is building ten stations on the new Elizabeth line, opening in 2018. Four kilometres of platform screen doors are required for the below-ground stations. Knorr-Bremse was awarded the contract to supply and fit the platform doors and SCX was commissioned to engineer a mechanism to automate the installation.

The center console also has an easy-to-use dial that controls the infotainment system and swaps among driving modes. The same dial controls other luxe seat settings such as massage speeds and lumbar support.

What sets this machine apart from the pack? Instead of utilizing an air compressor, which is the basis of most ceramic 3D printer, the CERAMBOT is equipped with a patented worm gear that is ultimately more user-friendly. The manufacturer claims that its worm gear mechanism leads to exceptional print quality and increased stability, while also eliminating air bubbles from the mixture.

Competing Favelle Favco and Cornell diesel hydraulic luffers in this class meant only one or two fall operation would be accepted by high rise steel workers. Three fall operation was abandoned, partly due to a high risk of the hoist ropes twisting when operating at heights above 100 m. To help maximise rope life the design uses as few sheaves as possible between the hoisting winch and the jib tip section.

For parts, there are no entirely new elements, but there are a handful of elements appearing in new colors. One of the more interesting is red towball pins. As that’s only the third color for the towball pins in 24 years and they don’t appear in any visible locations, so it’s a good bet the new color was introduced for another set and just happens to show up here first. The curved gear rack also makes an appearance in black, making this only the second set to feature this element in black, and only the fourth set overall to have the part in any color.
